The 2025.4 Stack Overflow for Teams Enterprise (SOE) release is all about helping teams work more seamlessly across tools, departments, and knowledge silos. With improved user management and faster access to trusted information, we’re making it easier than ever to stay connected and confident in your workflows.

Let’s dig into what’s new.

Seamless developer experience with Backstage.io integration

Developers can now access Stack Overflow for Teams content directly from within Backstage.io thanks to our new and improved integration.

  • SOE-enhanced search: Search in Backstage is now powered with Stack Overflow for Teams results to surface trusted, relevant answers.
  • In-portal question submission: Authenticated users can ask questions right from Backstage, eliminating the need to context-switch.
  • Dedicated Teams hub: View recent questions, explore popular tags, and discover top contributors—all from a centralized Teams panel.
  • Reusable UI components: Easily integrate Stack Overflow features into your custom Backstage setup.
  • Secure OAuth: Authentication is more secure and modern, supporting OAuth flows that developers expect.

These updates turn your developer portal into a true knowledge engine—connecting internal expertise with your daily workflows.

Your knowledge hub." The interface shows a search bar for questions under "Stack Overflow Questions," with filters such as "Unanswered," "Bountied," "Newest," "Active," and "Score." Below, a question appears: "What are the key characteristics and uses of potatoes in cooking?" with tags such as "potatoes" and "overflowai-generated." On the right, a user profile of "Moises Perez G" with a reputation score of 184 is visible, along with tag filters below it. The left sidebar contains menu options like "Home," "APIs," "Docs," "Create," and "Stack Overflow."

Better admin controls to modify job titles and departments via CSV

Admins now have the ability to update users’ job titles and departments manually via CSV uploads.

  • Greater accuracy: Keep your organization’s data clean and up-to-date, especially when identity provider (IDP) mapping gets tricky.
  • Improved insights: These fields enhance key product areas like the Connectivity report and Communities, offering more tailored and actionable insights.
  • Unlock collaboration: With better role and team data, collaboration patterns become clearer and more meaningful.

This improvement removes friction for organizations with complex IDP setups while enhancing visibility and reporting across Teams.

Smarter search with recently viewed content

Some questions and articles in Stack Overflow for Teams are already tried and tested—used repeatedly to unblock workflows and drive key initiatives forward. While users have the option to manually bookmark this high-value content, it’s easy to forget or accumulate too many bookmarks to manage effectively.

Now, the next time you run a search, you’ll now see recently viewed posts automatically appear at the top.

  • Faster access to trusted content: Quickly reconnect with the answers and insights you already trust.
  • Fewer clicks, more flow: No need to sift through bookmarks or repeat searches.
  • Personalized discovery: Your recent activity guides your future success, making search feel more intuitive and relevant.

This update streamlines your workflow by putting frequently revisited knowledge front and center—so you can stay focused and get unblocked faster than ever.
